Wharton Studio Museum Silent Movie Under The Stars

ANNOUNCEMENT! We’re thrilled to be collaborating with the Wharton Studio Museum on their screening of TESS OF THE STORM COUNTRY!

The Cherry Arts’ new fall project is called STORM COUNTRY — based on the same 1909 Ithaca-area novel that was the source of the TESS OF THE STORM COUNTRY silent film series.

In these months before the Cherry Artspace (our upcoming waterfront theatre on the Cayuga inlet) is built, The Cherry is creating STORM COUNTRY as an innovative headphone play — a soundscaped walk through Ithaca’s west end, that weaves a haunting medley from Tess’s melodramatic tale and the fascinating histories of Ithaca’s own west end neighborhoods, where Tess’ stories are set.

Ithaca-area audiences can check out two different artistic interpretations of Grace Miller White’s graphic novel— first with the Wharton Studio Museum’s outdoor screening of Mary Pickford and Adolph Zukor’s iconic silent film on 8/27, and then in our innovative “headphone play” opening in September.

Bring a picnic blanket and join us at a Silent Movie Under The Stars this Saturday night (8:15pm) at Taughannock Falls State Park, presented by the Wharton Studio Museum! AND COME EARLY FOR A LIVE SNEAK PREVIEW OF STORM COUNTRY!
